Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino gambling is not permitted. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features 150 slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that features a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
