Cambodia Gambling Halls
Tuesday, 23. February 2021
There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that features numerous comforts in addition to the casino, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
